About the Show
The play weaves together the writers journey to define black womanhood with the difficult historical realities of 1968. The audience is transported to both segregated south where they meet Mary Joyce, a law graduate stuck as a receptionist and Dorothy, an aspiring actress. They both depend on each other for survival but when they receive career defining opportunities their sudden path to success begins to strain their sisterhood. This dual narrative is a moving exploration of how the past and present echo each other and how leaning on our community is the most profound success.
